In the AlienH20 game I just got nuked. The base was one I had recently captured and contained a portion of my attack force so it was a decent tactical shot that slowed my advance but notsomething that damaged me in the long run.
However I noticed that the nuker appears to still be getting trade income from his alliances. The Charter appears to be in place (I was a replacement player so don't know for sure) since Repealing it is an option for Council vote.I also went back to an old turn and tried an atrocity myself (genetic plague by probe team) and immediately lost all trade income even though all my pacts remained
So my question is around how this can occurr. If you hit a unit with the nuke instead of hitting the base directly perhaps? On my quick test, the automatic sanction applied to me when I did a probe atrocity so it can't be a case that automatic sanctions only impact AI players.
So I am left with two options
1. Some atrocities result in automatic sanctions among human players and some do not
2. There are ways to nuke that don't result in atrocities and sanctions. My operating theory is that nuking a native life will not cost you trade but I will have to go test this.
I do not atrocity much so I haven't experienced this before. I had actually thought that the loss of trade would hurt my opponent more than the nuke damaged me. But if there are no sanctions I may as well go nuke happy .
Oh and despite my catching that nuke, my war goes very well. This past turn saw seeral more bases join my fold . I guess my opponent may decide to again nuke his own former citizens
