There, in this save you just have to skip a unit's turn to see a propserous base lose half its population to a Borehole.

Yikes! I don't think I've ever seen localized effects from boreholes (nor any terraforming other than raise/lower).

You can also get "endangered" for sea squares if the Planetary Council has voted to put in solar shades and the sea square will become a land square. There is no problem with a sea base becoming a land base, but all terraforming improvements on a sea square disappear (as you would expect).

Funny I've never seen that. Neither solar shades nor endangered sea squares...

solar shades can be launched by council sometime after space flight, I forget the exact tech, and I don't have the game in front of me, but I think its the one that gives plasma shard, living refinery and all that fun stuff

Advanced Space Flight, if memory serves me right.

But I recommend that you increase your sollar shade at each ten years, or you better prepare youself to swin a little...

you can launch solar shade and then increase it after ten years, but you'll have to wait another 20 after that because its the same proposal

I just "washed" one of my bases, mid-turn, that wasn't even on an endangered tile. I didn't build boreholes, and in fact I had been raising land in the region.

more odd game behaviors. I wonder are there as yet unknown bugs or is it an explainable game behavior. It sounds like a bug of some type

When you raise/lower terrain and that results in a river changing course, that rivers new course can cause flash flooding, unit loss, and washing as well IIRC.

BTW, can someone post drones 2006 in zip format?

This example is more straightforward: press "B" to lose a stack of formers. This one doesn't need Alien Crossfire (please don't look at the status of the bases, by that time I usually get bored and play terribly).

I'll d/l the save just to point and laugh.
