        Yep, exquisite balance, interesting factions (I love the way that the life history of other factions flash before your eyes, making them more real.) Interesting story, and always something new to learn, despite years of playing (off and on).

        What I love the most though is that you aren't stuck where you landed. You're in a bad spot? Well, SMAC allows you to fix that. You have options, either build and fix your environment. Or take better places from others who have them.

        Civ3 sucks because it limits you. Not happy where you landed? Doesn't have the resources you need? Your only option is to go take territory from others. It doesn't matter that you get railroads first, if you don't have the resources to make them. If you don't have the resources, there is NOTHING you can do except try to steal these resources from others, or pay them exhorbitant prices for them.

        SMAC doesn't force you into the offensive to obtain basic necessities like iron or coal.

        So it's excellent for builder types. But also interests attacker types (that's where the exquisite balance kicks in.)

                              just post it Tommar, whats the worst that can happen, you get banned for a little while and have to play SP and use a few more emails for PBEMS

                                Cookie destruc, logout etc doesn't help changing user name - you have to ask one of the mods. They seems to be quite reasonable, just ask Diss (or whatever his current name is )
