Gaians with PTS are awesome as ICSers. It's the 1+ nut from fungus that does the trick. They should keep clear of demo SE and then the 1st build in each new base is a CP!

Cata, comparing a 2 colony pod start to a 2CP and size 2 base start doth not a fair comparison make, especially when you cheated and built huge blocks of boreholes side by side :P

It was not my best game as others managed to cooperate out a tech lead on some crucial techs, but I think it's not bad for MY 2199.

And I officially invite you to a 1vs1 where I will be taking up the weakest ICS faction (a faction, whose best approach is ICS, yet it's the weakest of all ICSers, I'll start a poll on this) and you can take whomever you want.

I will also ask CMN to ensure that we have 'a standard start'.

Yes, ICS rarely uses facilities, besides Uni has Network Nodes and can get HoloTheatres for free, so they really have little need.

However, the player here appears to not have built Childrens Creches (but is building Centauri Preserves instead), which would allow his ICS much greater strenght and by this time MY 2212) he'd be researching Quantum Power, not SuperString Theory.

i would surely lose such a match. i have already told you on icq i play with zero worries,and would have some anxiety on such play. while i think your ics sux, i still likely dont have the game winning skills down.playing vs ai is alot different than humans.

the screen rate in the pic below is a bit more normal. i still expect to have quantam labs before 2200 or i messed up.

btw i am almost positive ive seen your save,cgn 21 before. but at a much earlier date.

Well, I did not intend to prove you I can win with ICS, I wanted to prove you that it does not suck.

I think if we engaged in some fast PBEM or even a little TCP/IP you'd soon realise how fast ICS is just by the looks of it.

So, I invite you..
We should make results public after it's done, so people see how ICS is done (I do not pretend to be the best specialist of it, but I play it well enough to show how good it is for economy and simply to show example how it's done).
The reason is that I've at last met a person who thinks ICS sucks not because it is ICS or because it is ugly, but because it loses to other strategies (yeah, it's you!).

I know 'Poly allows a lot of spam, and its a shock coming back here. I'm biting my tongue not to say anything, but really you guys:

Its annoying to see there are responses only to learn its meaningless gibberish. The occasional private-argument-made-public can be very enjoyable, but this stuff is just drivel.

And on topic: Yes Cataphract, I agree that its handy and fun to play the game in stages, however it is fun to push beyond the convenience of staged expansion/growth, and to study what might give real advantage in a challenge game. Sometimes surprising discoveries are made with Smax and new strategies do still develop. Sometimes its because a scenario demands it, but there is always a glimmer of adopting certain strategies to new venues.
