Wow, I've never had a vote for Supreme Leader go so bad. Usually if you're not even in contention, you can sway at least 1 other faction to say "hell no!"
But I've never had it where everyone says, yes...but I have heard that you can still refuse and end up taking everyone else on. I say stock up on planet busters at that point.

Avoiding this issue is pretty easy. All you need to do is ensure you have one-quarter of the votes. If this is a struggle, you should pick a larger faction and do probe crap to them and try to frame the vote leader. Even if you get caught a time or two it still works if you succeed a few times. You might even trigger a war. Note that doing the probe activities against a faction that hates you already means you don't lose much if the framing failsOriginally posted by Frankychan

Easiest thing to do when you're planning to play a SP game is to remember the eventual outcome :

I actually have to make an effort to play SP games these days and i don't have much time to keep in alot of MP games at any one time where i've actually got to put some thought into what i'm doing

Have you tried mapsize 256x320, 70-90 % sea, strong erosion, abundant, dense, no scatt and not building sea colonies ?
It can give some interesting starting maps.With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
