Problem installing AC on WinXP

When I try to install Alpha Centauri, I get no response from setup.exe. The autorun runs fine from the CD, but once I choose "Install Alpha Centauri", nothing happens. In my task manager, I see " setup.exe" and " wowexec.exe" both with spaces before their names, and no entries for the CPU usage. I've tried using compatibility mode for Win98, 95, and even 2000 to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas on what might help me to install?

Running setup in compatibility mode has helped others who had this problem, but you say you've already tried that. You might want to look at
