  • Starving Bases to Death

The pinned thread about common questions and answers has a few posts about starving bases to death. I've tried reducing bases to size one and then building colony pods, but this doesn't eliminate the base.

Is there a subtlety I'm missing, or is this no longer possible? I've found the AI tends to place bases to close together for my tastes, and I'd rather not incur sanctions by simply obliberating the base.

It does if you click "Abandon base" in the screen given to you.

I've had the same problem too... I dont' get the abandon base dialogue

I've also tried rushing the CPs for 10 turns in a row in a 1 pop base and it still doesn't disappear. And so, I resort to eliminating the base with military units...

It's in the preferences (IIRC in the "warning preferences")..

On very low difficulty levels, a size 1 base can build a CP and remain. In TCP/IP games, you never receive a prompt allowing you to abandon a base; production is always delayed.

Ah cool, that explains it. I've been playing on the lower two difficulties. Any way to change this behavior?

As far as I know, the only way to change that is to play on a higher difficulty level. If you think the AI places bases too close together, though, you need to read more old threads here!
