  • Random crashes on new machine - Tried Everything

So I recently installed AC on my new machine, P4 3ghz and was going along fine. Got the "CPU not supported" deal but went ahead and everything seemed to be fine. Midway through my game I bring up the Design Shop and try and make a unit, but whenever I try to select chasis type, game just quits to desktop, no message.

Fine, I just decided to build off premade units, no big deal. But then, awhile later, this random crash decides to happen at a much less convienent place, build orders. Suddenly, whenever I hit "change" the game crashes to desktop without warning. I've applied the 4.0 patch, I've applied the 2000/XP update, I've changed the ini file as per suggestions on this forum. Still crashing whenever I try to change build order.

    Is there any hope?

I got re-addicted last night, I neeeeeeeeeed my AC!

It sounds like you've tried all the documented ways to fix problems. Did you try a complete uninstall (including deleting any files that remained in the AC folder)?

If you post a save file from right before a crash, along with a description of what steps cause the crash, we could see if the problem can be reproduced on other PCs.

I think that the most likely explanation of your problem is a conflict with something on your system. If you haven't already done so, see if updated sound and video drivers are available for your system. What video resolution do you run on your system? You might want to switch to a lower resolution and see if that helps.

      SmartMuffin,

Don't know whether you're still trying, gave up or were successful. However, if you still have a problem, you might want to look at this link:

The first post in the thread has lots of troubleshooting tips.
