  • Background music for the early game

I've been steadily going through my collection of c.d.s after having returned to London and digging them out of storage. Yesterday I played one that I think is ideal for the early game (even down to the track titles) if you want a change from the SMAX soundtrack.

It's by David Sylvian and Holger Czukay and it's called 'Plight and Premonition', and whilst mostly ambient in nature, it also contains odd snatches of speech (like you might hear from irregular radio contact) and fragments of radio noise and natural sounds.

Ideal for the first hour or so of a game.

'When a CD/Album has only two tracks on it, one of which is over 18 minutes long and the other is over 16 minutes long, you know you are in for something interesting. Equally when you see that the first "instrument" listed as being played by Holger Czukay is a Radio you would be right in presuming that you are likely to hear something on the verges of the avant garde. And you would, of course, be right to think that!'

I haven't found any short sample there. Maybe you know of any place where we could listen to a piece of it?
