Hi,

I've recently installed Alpha Centauri again after a long hiatus. I have a couple of questions.

Is there anyway to play the game without the cd but also without the annoying movies?

How do I know if I installed a patch correctly, does it display something on the splash screen?

Also, I added a line: Video Mode=1024 in alpha centauri.ini but it doesn't have any effect, any idea why?

You can just avoid building secret projects
Alternatively, go to A/V Preferances and disable them.

You can check the game's version from one of the menu options.
