Well you could try and get it 2nd hand but that relies mostly on luck. Otherwise just get it using P2P file sharing, lots of people share it on eMule.

You can't find it on stores. But go to www.torrentreactor.com. The torrent file is available there, and you'll be able to download the game + patch very quickly.

AFAIK, it will run 1024x768 if that's your current X resolution. At least works for me.

Ah, Sikander. I knew you'd slink in here eventually. How're the haemorrhoids?

The inflamation is much reduced thank you.

I'm heading to New Mexico tomorrow for a few days in search of hot food, so that may change.

Got the Loki ISO from torrentreactor, unrarred it, burnt it, and installed it on my Mandrake machine. Plays like a dream. Thanks, you guys.

PS - For anyone wanting to do the same, it's the file called, "Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire."

I just visited your blog, but you haven't updated it. I spent the weekend playing a huge game of SMAC. Huge I tell you.

I just needed to set 1024x768 in my xorg.conf.

SMAX w/ patch does work on Ubuntu 5.10

I beat trancend a few times, I sure do miss the workshop in Civ4, getting cav is nice, but "rolling your own" behemoth hovertank with blink/drop and massive armor/wep is a blast.

(I turn the aliens off though for balance.)

I've now got it set up and running in Ubuntu Dapper. Something in the installation was weird, so that I have to run it as sudo, otherwise it crashes. As sudo, however, I've been playing many transcendant games.
