number pad problems

Hello, trying to get Smac to run on my new xp system. I patched to 4.0, then ran the xp compatibility patch. I get the error in processor support (2400 celeron), and i changed the ini file so it doesnt crash, but still my number pad does not move units (which makes the game essentially unplayable for me, since thats how I have played for years

Any advise?

wasnt nearly as fickle with w98, but got it to work, thank you very much.

I thought i had fiddled before, but such is life.
