Alpha Centauri Crashes with P4 extreme processors

I have a 3.2Ghz Extreme edition Pentium 4 processor laptop. When I install Alpha Centauri i can play the game. Then when I install the patch or Alien Crossfire I get an error message that tells me that my processor in not compatible with the game. Then the game procedes to crash. Does ayone know how to fix this? Or is there a patch out there that has already fixed this problem?:
