  • Can't even install the game on XP

This may just be because of service pack 2 as I have had the game up and running on XP before.

However when doing a reinstall I get this error message before I can even get to install

    16 bit Windows Subsystem

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose ‘close’ to terminate the application.

Anyone come across this one yet?
or do I just use my dual boot win98 in future?

    Hm, try editing autoexec.nt
if it's plain text, stick a :: before every line to comment everything out, since I think it's meant to be a batchfile. If it's not, move it to say, your desktop and try again.
    #play s.-cd#g+c-ga#+dgfg#+cf----q.c
    #endgame

Well it turns out that what I got was another ambiguous Microsoft error message.

What it should have said is autoexec.nt is not present in C;\windows\system32 (its in C:\windows\rescue)

When placed where its supposed to go the software installed fine.

Thanks for your help, wouldn't have thought about editing the file without your suggestion.

Well, here is a tip, uninstall SP 2 and never install it again. It should be in the change or remove programs. I never installed it cause I didn't want TRIBES and other games to be useless.

Had the exact same problem. Thanks guys I was getting really annoyed trying to get this game running. But i found my AUTOEXEC.NT in C:\WINDOWS\REPAIR
I didn't have to edit the file at all, just copy/paste.
Thanks again, it was really driving me nuts.

ok, well i uninstalled sevice pack 2, but still NOTHING, i've tried moving the file to the system32 folder as well

Just a question, when i click on the AUTOEXEC.NT file, it says that windows could not select a program to open it with, then i am given the option of opening it using another program...
                Is this normal ???
                Can someone PLEASE help ???
Also the AUTOEXEC.NT is only 1kb big, is this ok ???
