  • Year Repeat Anomoly

I am playing the same game twice - once with a modified Sikander FM research University, and once as a mostly Green pod-popping Zach (I am planning a thread on the results). I am trying to eliminate variables, but found an interesting game play anomoly.

If you play the attached turn by leaving the Clean Penetrator Supply in the base, everything occurs normally. However, if you move it out, say for example to square 53,51 to harvest some nutrients, the year does not increment. Even stranger, it did increment the first turn I used the Clean Penetrator Supply, right after it was made.

I've never had this happen before, I forgot to remove the Clean Penetrator Supply for a Clean Chopper Supply when I researched Mind/Machine Interface. I had a bunch of PBEM come in and some social obligations and after switching back and forth between five games just forgot. If anyone wonders why I built them, they are rush built by a materials pod and are great for completing secret projects.

I haven't opened your turn but I have seen PBEMS where the year number stayed the same for 2-3 years. In each case we did not notice any problems with the game turn-- everything seemed to have advanced to the next year normally EXCEPT for the year number.

So we sent around a turn labelled 2212b ( or whatever it was) and then 2212c before it finally switched onward to 2213. We never knew what triggered it and never seemed to suffer any ill effects ( Note this was probably 2.5 years ago or so)

Flubber, thanks. You're right, everything else went foward correctly. I'll try and see, since it was in the middle of the max-worm generating period if that runs for 20 years, or now for 21. I suspect --- 30 minute pause.

Unfortunately the timer for random events (A cloud was generated the next year blocking my research base) and perihelion are extended by the actual date versus the number of years that have past - I made perihelion last for 25 years by messing up the year count five times (but it still ended in 2210). So not incrementing the year either benefits Green factions/hurt FM factions during Perihelion events, or delayhs them advantageously to FM/hurting Green faction.

The same happened in ACDG II, the year got stuck for 2 turns. No harm was done AFAIK.

Eh? Let me see the documentation.

Maybe out in Alpha Centauri, strange things happen to temporal mechanics....
Arise ye starvelings from your slumbers; arise ye prisoners of want
The reason for revolt now thunders; and at last ends the age of "can't"
Away with all your superstitions -servile masses, arise, arise!
We'll change forthwith the old conditions And spurn the dust to win the prize

You're all wrong. What happened, you see, is that a black hole has appeared over planet, and now the time and space discontinum is all screwed up and blah blah blah...

The Acedemician's private residence will stay off-limits to the temporal inspectors. We possess no temporal distorting capability, we are not researching any termporal distortian effects, and we shall not allow this Council to violate faction privileges... Oops, that's going to happen next week, isn't it?

You guys-- looking for high tech answers

Ask your girlfriends and wives-- they will tell you that " time stands still" in every sappy romance novel when someone falls in love.

Perhaps Deidre has fallen under the powers of the good Mr Yang

So that's who Lady Deidre's lover is!

                        Noooooooo!!!!!!!!

Scratch that idea. Thinking about Yang and Deidre together is more terrifying than a mind worm attack. Far more terrifying.
