    ...as you do.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

As she presents no threat to me I allow her to approach my shores rather than be sunk by my shard copters. Breathlessly I await the outcome of our first face to face encounter. The Unity foil approaches one of my bases and Miriam appears on my viewscreen, and immediately surrenders completely!
I've experienced exactly the same thing, on a huge world with rather harsh settings, Miriam went to great lengths to get a ship from her flat arid island to my thriving continent, unloaded a scout patrol and immediately surrended. I think for me the encounter went like this:

      Miriam: Give me technology X.
      Me: No.
      Miriam: I surrender!

Well she got some tech out of the deal, and i helped terraform her god-forsaken island (sent a sea former), so it may have been a case of AI brilliance?

I once had someone who wasn't my pact borther/sister gift me a unit. We only had a treaty of friendship (but we did have a common enemy). Anyone have that happen?

How DO you release MWs into the wild, anyway?

Try and give them to someone when you aren't within any faction's borders.

You can do it anywhere. It's the same as turning over control (ctl/shift/U), except that with native life you get the message:

can you turn a supply crawler over to another human controlled faction in a Pbem??

I tried it and the crawler physically disappeared from the tile it was on. Using F7, I saw it was still listed as existing with its original faction (it was unique) and was NOT listed with the new faction.

The problem was I could NOT find the darn thing anywhere . Any ideas??

I had that problem recently, paniced and sent the save to Googlie (UnfBus players now know what the question was ). It turned up safe and sound on the other side though.

It was then "in limbo" - not under your control, but still "of your faction" until the giftee opened the turn, whence it became his unit, under his control, and then "of his faction".

With Chaunk, it was muddied as there was a pactmate's unit on that tile as well, which he could see, but even clicking on that tile ("move cursor to here") only revealed his pactmate's unit.

Opening the next turn (the pactmate's) however saw the unit now firmly under his (the pactmate's) control
