  • AI bonuses on different difficulty levels

This may have been already asked but I couldn't find any exact information on this subject. So, what penalties or bonuses the AI gets on different difficulty levels?

The one area that wasn't covered earlier might be the most basic:

when you are playing on X DIFF, the computer gets production penalties/bonuses as follows( assuming +/- 0 INDUSTRY):

      Where X =

Citizen - 130% of normal cost
      Specialist - 120%
      Talent - 110%
      Librarian - 100%
      Thinker - 80%
      Transcend - 70%

What that means is that when you are playing at, say, Citizen level, you need 10 nuts or mins to complete a row in the box, but the AI needs 13

Similarly, if you are playing at Transcend level, you need 10 nuts or mins to complete a row in a box, but the AI needs just 7

Thanks Googlie, that was the information I was looking for! If this has been asked many times, why not make a faq about this? Or did I miss that one too?

Anyway, it seems the higher difficulty levels in SMAC are a lot more easier than in Civ3. I just started a Thinker level game, I can hardly notice any difference to Librarian.

logic_error, you could add this to the Common Questions and answers thread, once you've gathered all the relevant changes. Then it will be topped for all time.

Civ is a lot harder. You never see somebody transcending in civ in the year 2154. Assuming that you could transcend...
