If you have the resources, building a wall around a pond to create an artificial loch will convert tidal energy, but creating an artificial loch would take a bit.
You'd have to tether a bowl-like structure to the sea floor. While not impractical, this means it could only be built in shelf squares.
The energy generated would be proportional to the surface area of the loch.
My idea = tidal harness
Other idea = wave harness -
"Tidal Harness" is just the name used in SMAC, dude. A couple experimental tidal generators were built, one in France somewhere. They are impractical because there are too few location where they can be built.(\__/) Save a bunny, eat more Smurf!

It appears that the small countries of Europe like Scotland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark, the countries no one really cares or hears about much, are the ones that set examples to the world of better ways to supply power, heat, pump water, farm, and well, do anything...Last edited by Commy; June 27, 2004, 23:17.Comment
