Because I liked the doctrine of the Hive. The life of the individual is nothing, all that is important is the greater good of the comunity.

Well, my very first game, I played the Spartans, because that is who is in the Newbie scenarios, so I decided that on my first game I'd play them. But that was the only game I've ever played them. Soon I was hating the Spartans and quit and decided to be University, for the tech. Today, I play either Morgan or Roze...Probe raping is, after all, pretty fun...Comment

I picked Spartans because I like the militant asceticism and advantages of high morale. Soon thereafter I tried the University and Morgan, and once I played Morgan, I knew I had a favorite.Comment

My first faction was the university. I liked the idea of their pursuit of knowledge.
My second pick was Spartans. I liked the sound of the emphasis on the military.
Ah, those games were fun...Civ IV is digital crack. If you are a college student in the middle of the semester, don't touch it with a 10-foot pole. I'm serious.Comment

I played the Gaians, which it seemed to me were the default. I played them several times before trying the University. I tried the others (expect for Miriam), but stuck with the Uni for the most part until I started playing SMACX.He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!
