Good point about asymetric bases. When I pod boom Yang I do exactly this, match a donor base with an infrastructure base and every time the donor hits 2 population it builds a colony pod, which runs next door and becomes another Librarian or Technician in the infrastructure base.

If you are trying to make your money go as far as you can you can also further specialize your specialist bases by making some of them Lab bases and some of the Ec bases. Lab bases have all of the groovy lab enhancers and are packed with Librarians, while Ec bases have the money enhancers and are packed with technicians. Some facilities will tend to be required for both types of bases, particularly Net Nodes if you have the Virtual World and Tree Farms to deal with terraforming ecodamage. But there is no reason to build hospitals in every specialist base, even though they will pay off with enough Labs being generated in a Librarian heavy base.

You'd think the Planetary Transit System would enable you to move 1 citizen over 2 tiles without all the equipment needed for a new base- but no, it just causes your citizens to breed twice as a colony pod gets planted.

What's even more frustrating is that you can't shuffle citizens around, even with PSIGATES.

I mean, what are people doing? Are they like elastic rubber balls that go through the Psigate, bounce back, and send all the citizens Queued at the Psi gate bouncing back,
so the chain reaction lands them all back to the Library or the Engineering office or something?
Or are they like lemmings that sort of walk all over the place, missing the Psigate door?

What is up with them? You'd think the governor assigns them to be workers and then chains them to the square they work or something.

But then again, if you could do that with psigates you could counquer a size 50 base in enemy territory, rush a psigate, and just go
vschoom and leave a size 1 base with 20 facilities to self-destruct from maintenence.

You could conquer a faction and just leave 40 bases of Governors and Janitors thinking "Oh crap, the Drones have wandered off again."

Actually that would be pretty fun.

Ahhh, I see you are thinking strategically. But wouldn't janitors have more fancy names in the future, like "quantum singularity talent pooper-scoopers"?
