Technical help

Hi all! I'm new in here.
I bought SMAC about 5 or 4 years ago and played it for a while on my old comp. I enjoed it but back then my english wasn't good enough to really understand the game. Now I found the CD and I want to play it again.
So I installed it on my comp and it got installed successfully, but when I tried to launch the game it simply wouldnt do anything. the computer seemed to think for a second but then nothing. Not even an error message.
Can somone tell me if he encountered the problem and how to solve it?
I don't know which details about my comp I should put here, so if this is a needed info tell me.

First check the SMAC/X FAQ for simillar questions, install latest patches, try XP compatibility patch, check .ini file and try to set ForceOldVoxelAlgorythm line to 1 etc. Report back if anything from this works.

I honestly don't know, but now that you're at Apolyton, it would be wise to think about a lot of stuff.
We have a whole lot of strategy in here...
