With christmas getting closer, here's an idea for a DIY-gift. I made two of these myself 4 years ago with great success.

    What you need:
    6 candles, about 15cm long
    2 pgs red paper, A4
    Glue
    Thin wires in different colours.
    A suitable kitchen timer.

    Tools:
    Printer & computer
    Scissors
    Thin screwdriver
    Awl
    Hot glue gun
    Adhesive tape

Start your favourite word-processor and type "DYNAMITE" (or something similar) in large ugly letters, thrice on each page(plenty of space between each line). Use the scissors to cut each page in 3 and adjust so each piece of paper covers an entire candle. Use tape both for fixing the paper to the candles and for closing them up. Use hot glue to close the ends. Make a hole in one end of the candle with the awl. Use hot glue to fix the candles into a nice stack.

Cut the wires in lengths of 20-40cm, roll each piece around the screwdriver for that nice "curly" look. Fix the wires into the holes in the candles. Fix the other end of the wires onto the back of the kitchen timer. Glue the timer in place on the stack of candles. Voila, you now have a higly original present

Word of caution: Apart from the obvious warning of not hurting yourself with the tools, you should also be aware that this funny gift may not be seen as funny by everyone. Do *not* bring it with you on an airplane, do *not* send it to public persons or others that may view this as a threat.

A few final words. You may of course change the colours, add a band round the stack of candles or do any change you find artistically pleasing. I had to do a minor paint job on the timers I had available as I didn't think white would look "right" on the model.

    Have fun
