  • I Think I Found the Poly Archives!

    Look at this page:

That link takes me to a text version of the Poly forums. (Do not click on the link that appears after "View Full Version.") This page displays the current forum structure, but the individual forums go way, way back and appear to include all the posts that were archived. To clarify, the Miscellaneous --> Archives forum on this page is still mostly empty, but the "live" forums appear to be mostly complete (perhaps missing recent posts). For example, the Civilization I & Civilization II forum has posts from 1998. Note that, by default, the oldest posts appear first.

I haven't checked whether or not links or attachments in the posts work. Also, this site has been indexed by Google (that's how I found it). You can force Google to search within this site by prefixing your search with site: http://apolyton.net/archive. For example, entering

site:http://apolyton.net/archive "secret set of victory conditions"

into Google returns a 1999 thread from the Alpha Centauri forum.

Anyone know about how or why this site is created? I've seen something similar on other vBulletin boards. Perhaps a mirroring/backup feature?

Seems like it's the printer friendly version of our forums.
I don't think it holds any post that's not in the 'normal' forums.....

We just apparently didn't archive a lot since 2003....

You're right. I thought I was seeing really old threads from 1998 and 1999, but they had been bumped more recently.

"Evil, Evil Findland" is gone :-( I did find some ******* who copied it wholesale onto another forum though. http://forums.devshed.com/dev-shed-l...nd-192201.html
