First... there is really no need any longer to limit threads to 500 posts.
Second... Enforcement of the rule seems inconsistent at best.
So is there still a limit?
In the on topic forums, many threads are running over 500 posts, which is a good thing. It keeps all the information/discussion in the same place and is perfect for continuing games and long discussions.
In the Sports and Off Topic forums, it still seems to be being enforced. It kind of sucks in the Sports forum, since most of the long threads are dealing with ongoing fantasy leagues, or season long sports discussions. In the Off Topic, it really doesn't seem to matter much since many threads that cross 500 have turned to spam or alternative discussions. There are a few serious threads that make it to that limit, so for those, it's too bad they just can't continue.
So what is the current rule? I would hate to see some of the long running traditional threads get shut down just because we are having this discussion, but it would be nice to know what the rules are... and are they different in the different forums.
Thanks in advance for your answer
