  • PolyCast Episode 63: "That Makes One of Us"

Sarcasm may or may not be included. The sixty-third episode of PolyCast, an official podcast of Apolyton Civilization Site (ACS), is now netcasting. "That Makes One of Us" features regular co-hosts Daniel "DanQ" Quick, Makahlua, Imran Siddiqui and Annalee "Cartimandua" Barney with first-time guest co-hosts Brian "bestbrian" Estrada and Huy Phuong "kniteowl" Quach.

PolyCast is a bi-weekly audio production in an ongoing effort to give the Civ community an interactive voice on game strategy. A nominee in the "Best Produced" and "Gaming" categories of the 2008 Podcast Awards, sibling show ModCast focuses on Civ modding and RevCast focuses on Civilization: Revolution.

To date, ACS is the only known community on the Web to produce its own Civ podcasts.

Princes of the Universe is a much better choice...

Also the last time I listened to Innuendo was during a game with DanQ... how's that for coincidence?

Since there is a ban on singing, how about a play on a song for your PolyCast Episode 64 title.

"Will you still need me, will you still (RSS) feed me when I'm 64".
And indeed there will be time To wonder, "Do I dare?" and, "Do I dare?". t s eliot

              YAFE (Yet Another Fun Episode).

Two points, which if you read EVERYTHING you could have included in the 'cast:
              • There are mods which include early cannon and adjust themselves for gunpowder units without need for upgrades (e.g., my fave Hephmod), or they can be modified by the individual in CIV4UnitInfos.xml to suit: Requires Gunpowder & Engineering, strength =8, UnitCombatMod vs. UnitCombat_Gun =50 (gives it a 12 vs. gunpowder units).
              • For "culturally linked starts" a mod such as Rhye's and Fall of Civilization would be indicated. There are probably other mods out there that would do the trick, without doing so much else ... I don't read everything either.

Ah -- hadn't heard of that mod before myself (surprise ).

We mentioned Rhye's during Episode 55 when Sal first wrote in, and on at least a couple of other occasions to date, but true it would have been prudent to reference it once more here given the bit of renewed discussion.

                    Isn't that a mod?
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Yes, except the context of the chat was "let a modder make it" when it's already made.

Dale, there is no one person who is knowledgeable at all times about all things Civ nor can one expect to be. Your MOD did not come to mind at the time is all -- no one on the panel thought of it, in fact! We're not ModCasters , but I will gladly note this work of yours by name in follow-up on our next episode though. I and others have done so in comparable situations in the past.

That said, my position on enhanced air warfare on this episode was not just "throw it out to the modders". In fact, first and foremost, I advocated the addition of more specific precision strikes by Stealth Fighters and Bombers over their first-generation counterparts.

I hadn't heard that song before, and I still haven't... but will.
