  • Why is the forum clock ten minutes late?

Just wondering. At the bottom of the page it says "The time now is 22:57."

    But it's really 23:07.

It also affects the "Local Time" entry next to individual posts.

Perhaps the local server time is a bit off/not updating? (I mean theplanet server time, not yours.)

Because nothing works properly any more. You should be thankful we can access the forums at all.

        Well??

For what it's worth, the time lapse increases by a minute or two per week..

          14 minutes behind...this really isn't funny anymore...

I have manually re-set the server's time so as to no longer be 10+ minutes behind -- should now be within a minute or two of the 'actual' time. Not sure how that discrepancy occurred in the first place, but collectively we can monitor it in the coming days and weeks...

Server time 0750 as of writing.
                  Real time 0759.

What the hell is wrong with the server?

The server is so busy it can barely keep up with the time.

I have corrected the server time again -- appreciate the heads-up, Krill.

I do not know why this slight lag crept up again; our technical staff are better equipped to diagnose that. In any event, I can correct any such lag quite quickly.

Thanks for that. I'm just astounded that the server is losing 10 minutes a month somehow.

The server is situated near a black hole which is causing time to slow down where it is.

don't say black hole! i saw one thread too many about that!

And does it matter if the forum clock is ten behind your actual time? I mean how can it really matter - just look at your clock to know the time? I don't think i ever even look at poly time.
