  • scrolling is really slow

    On a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo, scrolling up and down the Off-Topic Forum in Firefox MAXES OUT AN ENTIRE CORE. Why? This is ridiculous.

    How does your web browser handle fixed backgrounds?

      Firefox 3.0 has a known issue with slow scrolling on fixed backgrounds. 3.1b2 is much better.

      Not sure why you have a fixed background to begin with...

      Try this workaround: Close firefox. In your firefox Chrome directory, locate userContent.css. If you have userContent-example.css rename it to userContent.css.

      At the very end of the file, add this:
      Code:
      body {
      background-attachment: scroll !important;
      }
      save, load firefox, try again.

        Incidentally the bug is still open and some people say it's fixed, others not: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201307

        I'm on a Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz right now and the scrolling is fine for me, using the latest Firefox 3.1 nightly.

          My 3.05 has no userContent.css file. Is it only in 3.1?

            Not my call. I think snoopy369 did that after a suggestion by MMC.

            I liked it the way it was before.

              You would have to create one yourself.

                I installed 3.1 and found it in defaults\profile\chrome.

                    Reverted the change, should be normal for all users now.
