    Yes sir

I initially had Spinal surgery in April-May 2006, Carpal Tuneel in August 2006, as an attempt to reduce pain and swelling in left arm.

After being drug throuigh the system, in December 2007 had cartilage removed in left wrist Dequervin Release, where they split the tunnel housing tendons and shaved all my muscle tissue inflamed on left wrist.

3-4 months therapy got me here.

This is what I had done on July 16, 2008:

My damage was such I ended up getting a bone graft, with 12 or so screws to hold plate firm.

Im doing better everyday, just need to be patient, let it heal properl;y

But once hand heals to maximum potential, will reevaluate.

May be a good investment, I will try normal first, then go with it as a possibiulity

        Thanks for asking though

If your one hand still works okay, you could use a Dvorak layout ... it changes the layout of the keys so that the ones you actually use mostly are near the one hand (ie, the one side of the keyboard). Quite a few amputees and other people who have little or no use of one hand use this to their great benefit, and can often type at quite high rates of speed.

            Yeah,

I remember "fearing" more pain than I am actually experiencing

I have more "extremem spikes" than "consistent entended" periods.

The worse is about three areas, and as long as I follow directions from surgeon, i.e.elevate, NO MOVEMENT WITH LEFT HAND, which is hard, i am a pretty active perrson, its semi tolerable.

The pain is managable with meds, stingy (like a hornet sting)but getting used to

Im focusing on MMI (Maximum Medical Improvement) not getting back to pre accident state.

What once was is no more, now to focus on what I have and dealing with it as a reality

I could never be a surgeon. That didn't look good at all Gramps. Is the pics of you or is it for presentation purposes?

                Brother Nikolai

It is what my surgery "looked" like

I have looked at x rays and they mirror the xrays, except more screws and a bone graft

the open wound was to show what actually happens

In fact, mine is actually about 5 inches longand it shape of an elongated "S" which travels the length of and direction of nerves and tendons to avoid as much critical area as possible

Allways good to hear from you as you have been a strong witness during my darkest and bleakest hours in past couple years!

God Bl;ess and thank you my Brother!

Ouch, that's some extensive surgery you've had there Gramps... What's the prognosis for the future? Will you eventually be trouble free?

Got stitches out 2 days ago, also removed cast
It look like somone took a hammer to it, very swollen

I have 12 weeks worth of bone stimulations to go...

I start ROM (Range of Motion) Occupational Therapy for 6 weeks starting this coming Tuesday

Till on Vicodin but am voluntarily cutting back little at a time

The "end" result which is hoped for and understood by all parties, is major reduction in pain (pre surgery level, which is in fact happening) and of course a trade off, which is loss of almost all movement of left hand.

IO can use fingers a little now, its just the metal plate is screwed into that fingerand running down across my joint, so the ligaments and nerves had to be disturbed and well, medically speaking, thats not something they like, they been there 49 years and dont like strangers coming in!

But, I am comfortable, with the decision.

                          Healing time now

I will say its a weird sensation, I am moving fingers some but when try to move wrist, it doesnt budge, a "little" frustrating, but more a mind game, just need to focus, not be discourage.

Remember, its not what was or what could have been..but what is and will be! that I am concentrating on

I got a few pics from yesterday but my sweetie dont want me mnakin..umm...

Good to hear you're in less pain now, Gramps. You made the right call, you'll adjust to the loss of movement and won't have to be in constant pain anymore.
