  • Font Color/Background,cooperating with all posters issues

#1-Is there somewhere I can get a list of what colors we have available when using Font Colors?

#2-How would the best way to satisfy all these founded complaints because of different backgrounds?

I have had complaints on Red and Cyan

I want to get along, not offend, but bring a special Flavor-Flav to Poly unique to Grandpa Troll

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

I think you safely can add yellow and grey to that list.

Press the post reply button, so that you get to the newreply page, under post subject you have a bunch of vB Code option. There is also a drop down list box that says COLOR. As you already have guessed it contains the available colors.

Probably this depends on the background the user uses, I have no problems with Red and Cyan on my CTP2 forum style. They would be also alright on Civ3 style, but there you have a problem with darkblue, since the Civ3 background is black.

That is the answer I came up with myself

One possibility is to stop using colors, but I guess that is no option for your.

Another way would be to figure out which mass is the smallest mass and just upset the smallest mas by telling them if you want to read the text just use the mouse to highlight the text, so that you have something like shown in the attachment:

This is a considerable problem design-wise: all these different styles are nice to keep everyone happy, but make it completely impossible to use any kind of colour in forum posts, there really isn't a solution for this -- no one colour will work well on all styles. On vB3 I'll be adding a [highlight] tag that'll use an appropriate colour for whatever style someone happens to be using, but even then that's hardly a perfect solution: I can at best add 2 or 3 of such tags, and it still gives you only very limited control over your colour palette. But it would work for this situation when you're not especially picky but just need to have any kind of variation in colour.

Until then, the best thing to do is to just NOT use different colours -- instead, bold or italicise text if you want to highlight it. If you really have to use different colours though, do what I do if I can't avoid it: switch entirely to HTML and set the background colour as well:

Like this (quote this post to see how I did it)

But people selected the style they selected for a reason -- if they have a dark style chances are they don't like seeing large areas of text on a white background.
