This time it wasn't us The server was up and running fine, but I think nobody could get to it for about an hour or so. Some traffic issue at/close to our host probably. If we learn more we'll let you know, but the most important thing is that it's fixed now

Well, if you didn't do anything to fix it, then you're slackers

(thanks for the explanation though )

Our hosting provider has now informed us that they are indeed having issues on their end and they're working on it. Nothing we can do but hope we remain unaffected from here on out. On their behalf and ours, apologies for any inconvenience...

            From our hosting provider:

This evening at 4:55pm CDT in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.

We have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit. We were not allowed to activate our backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department.

Our server is fortunately not located in the data centre in question (or we'd still be down, for at least another 12 hours), but we went offline for a short while due to some auxiliary services we depend on being located there. This normally shouldn't affect us any further though.

We're happy to learn that there were no injuries and our sympathy goes out to our hosting provider, this is obviously a much more severe and traumatic situation for them than for us...
