  • PolyCast Episode 38: "This One Time, in Band Camp"

It's not what you think... probably. The thirty-eighth episode of PolyCast, an official podcast of Apolyton Civilization Site (ACS), is now netcasting. "This One Time, in Band Camp" is co-hosted by Daniel "DanQ" Quick, Makahlua, Imran Siddiqui and Kelly "KMadeleine" with returning guest co-host Michael "emeseles" Lucas-Smith; it runs for 44m59s.

PC is a bi-weekly one-hour audio production of ACS is an ongoing effort to give the Civ community an interactive voice on game strategy; its sibling show ModCast focuses on Civ modding. ACS is the only known website to produce its own Civ podcasts.

          Yay, I'm KMad's hero!

Just to clarify a possible misconception - there seemed to be a bit of confusion over Corporations and Mercantilism. Mercantilism (in the game) only prevents foreign Corporations, not local ones. Hence the decision that allowed Corporations to be founded under it.

          Otherwise a very interesting discussion.

I anticipate that future poly/modcasts are going to be more interesting to me, because ...
I've been occasionally browsing through the CFC/BtS threads. If I stop paying attention to them (other than updates on Bhruic's patch -- gotta keep up to date on that!), then more topics on the 'casts will be new to me.

The bloopers at the end were great! Can I have a recording of the whole, unedited polycast? For personal entertainment & appreciation-of-your-editing purposes, of course.

That's a very good point to note here; in hindsight, I see that we didn't make that clear.

              Otherwise a very interesting discussion.

              Will you sponsor the show?

                Will you sponsor the show?

You forgot the PM/email indicating rough cost estimates for doing so.

BTW, personal use would involve zero distribution, neither public nor private. Same with entertainment & appreciation-of-your-editing aspects.

Great show, I enjoyed it a lot. Dan is getting pretty slick with the musical interludes. The flow and timing was spot on and never seemed to lag or jump through topics to quickly.

Im glad you picked up some of the suggested topics. I really like the conversation around the unoffical patch. Both to increase awareness of its existance as well as sharing the ideas and exploits out there (people may have wondered about those issues cropping up in their own games).

I'll certainly PM you about sponorship then , and appreciate your point, but recognize that we will not release complete, unedited recordings of the show (or MC) with sponsorship or otherwise. If that's a condition of sponsorshop, we'll understand.

The overall point has, however, prompted a bonus feature idea possibility down the road.

Started listening to this episode sounds good for now...
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
