I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

What he said. I do wonder what was edited out about me, since DanQ is quickly cut off by Imran...

Well, since this has come up and by you no less...
What was edited out was my starting to accidentally butcher your forum handle -- my quickly realizing it (and others too) -- then my purposely butchering it more for further laughs but it got to be a bit, um, much.

Good episode. Another entertaining installment at the level I've come to expect. Thanks.
-- thank you for the kind words.
The discussion about an American bias for Civ4 wonders was the best part but some of the wry comments also fetched a laugh. Nice job.
I personally didn't participate in that segment as much as most others did, but I edited it so I'll take a too.

I expected as much.
Anyway you guy's seem to be improving. The show was definitely better than the Revcast, which was ok despite the fact that consoles, even consoles with civ are evil.

Speaking of which and out of curiosity, was this the second episode of the show you've listened to or..?
No, I more or less listened to every episode made. It would be kind of pathetic but I’m an insomniac so it’s markedly less pitiful than it sounds.
I’m kind of a fan Or the closest thing the polycast will ever get..
The show is great to listen to, keep making them.
BTW There can never be enough of “girl playing civ”!!
More Maki for future episodes!!

First, let me say, I do enjoy the Polycasts. But, you folks have got to stop needling us mac users. I feel like an Armenian in Turkey, sometimes, here at Apolyton. We've already been rounded up and placed in that "Other Platform" sub[human]forum. I don't even know if it exists any more.
Anyway, keep up the good work.

Btw, there is another TBS DS game in production. It's titled Pocket History: Rome, and it's being designed by Slitherine.
HISTORY IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND
THE HISTORY CHANNEL® and Slitherine are back together with a new project.
Epsom, 4th October 2007,
THE HISTORY CHANNEL® and Slitherine Strategies are proud to announce the expansion of their licensing relationship. Plans call for the creation of a new product line, THE HISTORY CHANNEL® Pocket History, a new series of games developed for the Nintendo DS game platform.
These new titles will extend the mission and core legacy of both companies to bring history to a wider audience. THE HISTORY CHANNEL Pocket History product line will feature a specific historical period for each release. Iain McNeil, Director of Slitherine, said, "Our objective with the release of the Pocket History series is to bring creative and inventive gameplay, that is easy to pick up and learn, to the next generation of portable gaming platforms. As always we are concentrating our efforts on creating a product that is both historically accurate and innovative and will really suit the DS platform."
The Pocket History series will begin with the release of THE HISTORY CHANNEL Pocket History: Rome in April 2008, with further products launching worldwide later in 2008.
"We are very pleased to join forces with Slitherine for THE HISTORY CHANNEL Pocket History series, the second product line we have developed together," added Carrie Trimmer, Director of Licensing at A&E Television Networks, parent company of The History Channel. “Following the success of THE HISTORY CHANNEL Great Battles console series, we wanted to design a game specifically for the Nintendo DS that would take advantage of its unique features, especially its portability. We think gamers will respond favorably to this new series.”
THE HISTORY CHANNEL Pocket History: Rome puts the player in control of the Roman Empire, building and extending its cities, governing the population and exploiting its resources. The player must also manage the economy and of course take command of the Roman military machine. Through conflict, diplomacy, economic and social growth, the player will increase the power of the Empire following the path of the most successful military empire in history.
The title will also feature fun-to-play mini games inspired by Ancient Roman culture, as well as an embedded encyclopedia that enriches the playing experience with historical resources on the subject.
"We strive to innovate, as always," said Marco Minoli, Marketing Director of Slitherine. "The market keeps offering 'me-too' games and competing with the same kinds of products with the same old style of gameplay. At Slitherine we have always tried to offer a different approach and to create something entirely new. Our audience has always appreciated this. With THE HISTORY CHANNEL Pocket History series we are continuing along this path, inspired by the exceptional sales results of The History Channel Great Battles of Rome."

-- glad you're continuing to enjoy them.
But, you folks have got to stop needling us mac users. I feel like an Armenian in Turkey, sometimes, here at Apolyton.
It's always been in good natured fun on the show -- at least, that's how we have and continue to view it -- but I believe we have toned it down overall. We recognize that even good natured needling can loose its lightheartedness if it's too persistent.
The recent BtS on the Mac point in a few recent episodes sparked a bit of a rekindling of the "needle Mac users" tone in some earlier ones, but that needling was surrounded by a greater focus on actual Civ-Mac content. The Mac was discussed other than to use as a needling point in these instances, and that's what I liked about them. If we truly hated Macs (which we don't), we would say so in all seriousness and eventually not talk about them at all. We have even had a Mac user as a guest co-host (DanS) and would welcome more.
The same regard and consideration extends to other members of the Apolyton staff and administration. I also believe that this stands true of the majority of the remainder of our community as well.
We've already been rounded up and placed in that "Other Platform" sub[human]forum. I don't even know if it exists any more.
Mac and non-Windows forum coverage was incorporated into "Civ General" because of the lack -- at least visibly -- of members of those communities on-site in recent years. At the same time, we did not and do not want the Mac or other non-Windows communities here to disappear so it continues to be recognized in this capacity.
Maybe with BtS being playable on a Mac without a port for it -- reasonably so, anyway, for newer versions of OS X -- the Mac presence on Apolyton will pickup.
Anyway, keep up the good work.
Thanks.

No one on-site knows what Maki looks like as far as I know.
