well it could make sense in the fact that the you already know what to type for the frequently used ones so you don't need them there.

Also, they don't know what to type for the popular smilies, so many of which are on the second page for no reason other than that's where they are and the powers that be are outwitted by stumps and are therefore unable to see the obvious sense of changing them.

But! Ignorance at the top translates to there not being very many new people so the problem is solving itself. When nobody comes to Poly anymore why change the smilies around?

Try to make sense of it all. If you get anywhere PM me please.

Teh n00bs should have to figure out teh codes through sweat and toil, or at least from quoting our posts. In fact, I think teh useful smilies should be taken off teh smiley page altogether. That way, nobody can fake being a n0n-n00b, and only teh experienced posters will know how to use them
