  • PolyCast Now More Dial-Up Friendly

Dial-up users tuning into PolyCast rejoice: a more accessible distribution of episodes of the bi-weekly podcast is now available to you.

Starting today, the official podcast of Apolyton Civilization Site (ACS) is available in 16kbps as well as 64kbps MP3 format. The ongoing series' entire archive has been ported to this more manageable quality in addition to the current editions; the primary target of this more compact offering is dial-up users and others with slower connections to the Internet, but other listeners are welcome to use it to if they prefer. To determine the filesize of an episode in either distribution, hover your mouse cursor over the link for a few moments -- it will appear in brackets momentarily thereafter.

PolyCast is an effort to give the Civ community now an interactive voice. ACS is the only known website to produce its own Civ podcast.

    Do people still use dial-up
Im not sure what Baruk Khazad is , but if they speak Judeo-Dwarvish, that would be "blessed are the dwarves" - lord of the mark

Yes, some people do (though I believe it's more by 'force' than choice).

I use dial up at a summer house if I need to check something on the net, but not for everyday usage.

The majority, IIRC, of USians are still being forced to use dialup.
