Console Hardware posts - in OG, or in Tech?

I just posted about MS's recent issues with the Xbox 360, on OG, and it turns out Nostromo had posted about the same thing in Tech.

traditionally "console wars" posts, like "Console vs PC gaming" posts have gone in Other Games. However some would argue that, just as posts about the PC industry belong in tech, so do posts about consoles. Id be inclined to point out the many uses for a PC besides gaming, but then consoles have other uses as well, and in the case of the PS3 the use as a Blu Ray player is central to Sonys strategy.

So, where do such topics belong?

This thread reminds me of the teacher's pets in 5th grade...always asking for inane rule clarifications.

"Ms Klein can we talk on the way to Health class?" when clearly the technical rule is No but everyone does it anyway. Everyone who isn't kissing ass, that is.

Some of us like keeping the forums well ordered. OCD thing, whatever.

In any case, whats it to you? How is it any skin off your back if I ask?

Just to let you know, this isnt school, you dont have to be here if you dont want to be. Treating an internet forum mod like a schoolteacher seems rather childish to me.

It's a natural reaction when the internet forum mods treat their users like children.

Console posts would be appropriate in either forum, though OG is probably more appropriate.

I don't think we care which forum a thread is in as long as it's appropriate for that forum.

I forget, am I allowed to defend the mods when someone attacks them in a post responding to me, or am I not supposed to cause that looks like gloating?

I will only say that the community forum has always been used to clarify the rules. Thats one of the reasons it exists.

Lets move on. Let it go already. If you can't go take a walk, have a coke, whatever. Lets post about something else for a change.

personally, Id prefer they stay in OG, as that forum, unlike OT, is not particularly crowded, and could use activity, and the issues typically are deeply intertwined with game issues. I would discourage them from being in Tech, and, quite frankly, for me thats one reason to lean against the tech sub forum.

It's up to the poster. If someone wants a thread in the tech forum, because they want to discuss the technical aspect of the console, why not? Like you said above, what skin is it off of your back?

OG is plenty busy, more so than the Tech forum, so that's not a concern. I suspect most console threads will be there, because that's where the posters are who are interested in them.

Plenty busy? I see posts from a month ago still showing up on the first page. Thats not the slowest forum on the net, or even just on 'poly, but Id certainly like to see it become more lively.

And yes, tech forum is slower. Thats the point, is it worth creating multiple slow forums. Now OT, its arguably different, things get lost there. Though even so, some are making the case for recombinging the tech forum back into OT.

Of course its not a huge deal. I was only giving my two cents.
