I'd encourage you guys to look towards engaging in more cooperative efforts with CFC, such as sharing their database and including CFC content/members in PolyCast. This might help to sow some understanding between the members and lay the foundation of real merger someday. Also forum look/style that the CFC crowd would envy rather then despise would help keep them for revolting.

Solver, you did a great job of sowing doubt when it looked like everyone was starting to accept it was a joke. Indeed. Though it would have been better if:

i) you hadn't picked such an obviously silly name
ii) you hadn't made the reference to people having to pay for gotm
iii) you hadn't dropped so many "obvious" cryptic remarks in the days leading up the fool.

You didn't really need the gotm thing - the outrage from just the merge would have been sufficient.

Still, I rather enjoyed it.

The part about charging for GOTM was a bit over the top though. Such a terrible idea; I'm surprised so many people thought such a thing would actually be approved. If you really want to get people next time, you need to keep it a bit more realistic. Though admittedly, plenty of people thought the merge itself was over the top, and I was almost ready to fall for that.

You know that charging for GOTM, I had no clue it was in there. Hell, I didn't even know what GOTM was! No idea that would be the thing people seized on (if I did, I'd suggest taking it out ASAP). Though there was some attempts to minimize it by claiming THAT was the April Fools Joke in the totally serious merger .
