Custom Avatars

I currently have a custom avatar because around Christmas last year everybody was allowed to have one.

I would like to know what will happen if I try to change it now? I am afraid that I won't be allowed to pick another custom avatar and might even loose this one.

You can change it as often as you want.

I think there's a time requirement. based on your registration, you should have no problem.

back in my day, you had to have a certain number of posts. 1000 to be exact. We didn't have it easy like you kids today. And we had to walk 5 miles through the snow to get the avatars.

I only can't figure out why I don't see any avatars in threads where I post. I see avatars in threads where I haven't posted. And sometimes there are no avatars at all or only non custom avatars are visible.

It was 500 posts when I got there.

nugog, in my day, the admins were strictly against us paying them. There were no other way than 500 posts.

Sorry to dissent but I think you should check further if you are concerned. You still don't meet the post requirement so unless you meet the time requirement now (which I can't remember) but did not at Christmas you wont be able to change your avatar back to a custom avatar if you switch to a non-custom one now.

However you can test it by trying to change to another custom avatar now though, which seems the most sensible thing to do. If you can't switch it then keep your current custom avatar till you meet the requirements (either time or posts), and if you can, well, no problem.

The minimum requirements for a custom avatar are 500 posts or a registration date that's at least 1 year old (or ApolytonPLUS of course). Sir Og easily meets the registration date requirement so he can freely change his avatar.

The confusion here is that the registration date requirement was re-introduced around last Christmas, after having been absent for a few years.
