What is the background colour for avatar icons?

Try this one then. The lettering may appear a bit bolder though as all the non black on that blue image is now solid black.

YOu don't need some over priced graphics package. The trial download of Paint Shop Pro will work just as easily.

Convert your avatar to 256 colours and save it as a .gif. Then set the part you want gone as transparent.
