They're most probably deleted. Most threads were deleted somewhat recently instead of being archived, and only the big ones got archived... but the archives are unsearchable anyway. Sorry.

Actually, you would be surprised at how much is stored in the OTF Archive. You can find threads going back as far as 11/14/01.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the "old" archives? I'm pretty sure Markos announced another archiving-or-purge somewhere in 2004, and at that point most OTF threads were deleted, except the popular ones which got added to the archive.
I still remember the posts when it was discovered that the historic 9/11 threads are gone and not archived, which happened somewhere in 2002 I think?
Hmm, now it actually seems that having spend almost five and a half years on this site, I can no longer remember too well when what happened .

From the period Feb '04 to Jan '05 only the largest and most popular threads were saved (as well as a few smaller ones that were archived manually at request), other than that the archives are pretty much complete from 14/11/01 to now (stuff from the last year is in the regular OT forum though, not in the archive).
If you have a clear idea of when the thread was posted, who the thread starter was or what the thread's name was, you can just browse the archives using the sort and navigation options at the bottom of the thread table.
If not, the best way to search the archives is with Google. Use site:apolyton.net as search term to just search on Apolyton, and add Archive as search term as well to more or less narrow the search to just the archived forums (not 100% fullproof but it works well enough most of the time). You may also have to go to the last page of results and click on "repeat the search with the omitted results included" to not have Google omit similar results (since many results from our forums will likely be similar). Do those things and you can somewhat effectively search the archives. It won't find everything that's in there, but it's better than nothing.
I thought I started the thread it was from when I was an Instructor and competitor in Tae Kwon Do (im a Geezing) and I will try tonight, IIRC, it was from late 04 but well, I do have my scrap book and can simply rescan.
