Well - it's dialup at home, and broadband at work, so guess where I am posting from most of the time!I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die. -

The NZ government is actually forcing them to divest themselves of the internetty stuff to allow true competition.
And even with broadband here, we suffer data caps and really excessives fees if you exceed those.

Unfortunately Telstra does (cost-cutting measures for phone-line installation that has the side effect of preventing broadband over said phone-line).I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).Comment

instead of using 4 wires for each house hold they split the wire into 2 sets of two to save mone yrunning new cables. This interupts the ability to run ADSL. To overcome this they then run the copper line to a RIM exchange which is conencted back tomain exchange with fibre optic cable.
