Exactly how big of a fanbase did he site have back then? With all the fuss about hosting it seems like it was very important to the community

      Good question.

In UCIVII's first full year of operation, ~150,000 unique visits were logged (source: third-party counter on homepage) for an average of ~411 a day.

DanQ why was that guy (the former partner) emailing you and being "antaganistic" towards you?

It was a most unfortunate misunderstanding that was resolved to my satisfaction at least.

What is important is that the second email exchange mentioned was amicable.

How many is it today? And do you know how many CFC has for comparison?

Depends on the month/season. The summer months are historically the least trafficked, and this summer is holding steady to this pattern. According to our logs generated by third-party software, in the just past May-June period we were averaging ~10,600 unique visits per day. August's numbers are shaping up to be comparable.

In contrast, average unique visits per day in May were over 27,000(!) I do not have similar CFC data for comparison.

Did the counter count refreshes? Was it really logging 'unique' visits?

That's simply amazing if that's the true amount. I know that I visited the site back in the dark ages before I got a home net connection... but I can't imagine that civ sold so well in 1997/8 that they would be over 150K diehard fans on the internet.

No, the counter did not count refreshes fortunately.

                    Aren't you the history buff?

Yes, Mr. McCart will be profiled in chapters yet-to-be-published, although not about his work as a scenario designer. In fact, he will be a most notable mention on more than one occasion.

Have I said too much? *gasp*

                      1.)
                      150K unique visits... Amazing!

                      2.)
McCart was before my time and behind the scenes- all I know is that he hit it big, is working for a company now (supposedly) and took his scenarios down

I'm really looking forward to reading more about him! He was the first 'name' I became familiar with.

                      3.)

He continues to work for Ensemble Studios, the company behind the Age of series set. See: http://www.ensemblestudios.com/OurTeam.htm
