          edit: it worked!. Good thing. I called someone a homo in there. You can find it by going to page source.

            Not to be unkind or anything, but a person who can't even ask a girl out has no business calling others a homo.

              This bug is the reason they invented code tags.

              Code:
              UR ALL

              EDIT: Ok, maybe it wasn't.
              I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

                  Try this. Edit: I have the real solution, that actually works, on the bottom. Pre doesn't do squat, apparently.

                  (Un-pre'd text)
                  I like to usesigns too. But, I can use them wherever I want... because I know the magic of < pre > !

                  (Pre'd text)
                   I like to usesigns too. But, I can use them wherever I want... because I know the magic of < pre >!!!

                  The < pre > tag is 'preformatted' text, similar to the VB code [ code ] for HTML.

                  edit: BAH! VB code is mucking with HTML code. I'm pretty sure < pre > is the code to do that, normally. But i'm checking.

                  Some other special characters btw, since that's sort of related to this:

                  We bring you the future as it happens. From the latest in science and technology to the big stories in business and culture, we've got you covered.

                  not only > but also ♠ etc.

                  Re-edit for TRUTH!: Pre apparently doesn't do what < xmp > used to do - which is preserve every single character. My fault for learning HTML back in the Mosaic days and not having used it much recently

                  I like to use<signs in text. Sometimes>signs too. But, I can use them wherever I want... because I know the magic of < pre > !<br />

                  Not sure if < xmp > still works in browsers or not - but it might

                  One other thing though, it only is interpreted as a character iff it is immediately appended by a nonwhitespace character. IE, < 5 is fine as long as it's not <5 > (that's < then 5 with no space in between).

                  Rereedit: < xmp > seems to work fine, in FF1.06 ... There ya go.

                              Because we are allowed to post HTML code. If we were not allowed to post HTML code, your way would work too. However, HTML reserves three characters for its own purposes:
                              > &gt;
                              < &lt;
                              & &amp;

                              BTW, you do need the semicolons even if you can get away without them in some circumstances.
