  • Back button functionality after a post

For the last six months or so (no clue really, just 'as long as i can remember, almost', I've been able to hit the back button after I post, and re-read the quote there.

About a week ago, I suddenly couldn't anymore - it does the POSTDATA thing where it asks me if i want to re-post whatever I posted last, and then I get a regenerated (different) quote, although fortunately no DP.

Is this just me? I may have updated FireFox at around the same time (to current 1.0.4) but I don't see anything obviously changing otherwise ...

Switch to Opera. The Back button will always work.

It works with IE 6 for me...

I figure that it's just a "form posting" quirk with firefox that doesn't recognize the auto-redirect as a separate 'hop' between pages... therefore it attempts to return to the form posting rather than the quote hosting page.

But it worked fine until about a week ago? What changed ...

Besides, DC, it does take me back to the quote page - just a different quote.

Opera - bloaty terrible default interfaces for the 21st century idiot. Blatant lying on their website is more than enough for me to think less than nothing of them.

They had a thing on their website about PCWorld declaring them Best Web Browser...unfortunately they didn't win the award, Firefox did.

Then it's probably reloading the page instead of caching it?

Firefox 1.0 and older will always reload instead of displaying a full page cache.

Firefox 1.5 (due in September) has "fast back cache" (which I've enabled on my nightly builds fo a while now), which will show the full cache like IE6 and Opera do.

Those pages have the "Pause" button for a reason...

EDIT: The going back does not work for me, either. It tries to make a new post (and hits the anti-flood thing), instead of just showing the quote page as it used to. I use Mozilla 1.7.something.
                      Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

oh btw, I can go back and read the quote.

When it says the blurb about postdata, I just click okay. I'll test it now.

edit: that didn't work. But it just worked for me a second ago. When I tried it after making this post, it said I couldn't post another message within 30 seconds.

re-edit: but it did work after that 1st edit. I got some quote about today being a learning experience or some crap like that. I never cared for the quotes that much anyways.

And once again Firefox copies some functionality already pioneered by Opera...

Which is ok by me, actually, because in the end we all get better products. BUT Firefox should at least acknowledge that Opera is their main source for browser innovation...

Hahaha!. Did you just think of that yourself? Sounds like the intro to Plan 9. Glonkie trying to be funny

Seriously. Like you said, DEFAULT interface. Not that I think you are right but Opera also has the most customisable interface ever.

So Firefox will have something that even IE already has as soon as September? I'm impressed
