How's that?
I sign up at 1970 (as some have.. ), I leave this place till 2020 and when I came back Im suddenly an uber-deity?
Or - I just keep Poly open in one browser window 24/7 and Im an uber-deity again?
Sure! Works for me!-- What history has taught us is that people do not learn from history.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Well I think I know howto do it, but it was not the thing i wanted to point out.-- What history has taught us is that people do not learn from history.

And AFAIK you can't have startdate less than 1970-01-01 with the current software Poly is using.-- What history has taught us is that people do not learn from history.

OK. I think by 'active' he meant that poly could track how much time one is logged on to the site (which would be pointless and probably a strain on the server).
Either that or it was a poorly worded attempt to say he doesn't want post counts to be used.I'm consitently stupid- Japher

Well mine IS Dec 1969.
It's the code below that, Im a programmer myself and could search for the function vBulletin is using - there's one in PHP which counts time exactly like 1970 -> 2050, no more no less.
I´m not really sure what you mean
For lazy people:
There are 2 ways to exploit/fool such a system and they depend on how exactly it works:
1.If system is set to work that your activity = current date - your signup date,
then people who have been the founders of this site or at least the first participants or admins (have access to DBs) will be VERY active as their signup date is usually the first possible date by current software (vBulletin Version 2.0.3) - 1970-01-01.
2.If it's set up the way like
your activity = (current date - your signup date) / time you've actually spent online and at Poly
there' another abuse - Im working in Software Development company, moreover, Web development / Business solutions and my PC is never shut down, only restarted time by time (as I use it remotely, it usually runs some processes overnight etc), so I just open Poly and keep it open 24/7 and voila' - Im a really active person without a single or with a very few posts or even views!-- What history has taught us is that people do not learn from history.

The second way would also make people like Theben lose their "Emperor" status and be more like "Chieftain" or so as they're not likely to keep Poly open just for the sake of activity.-- What history has taught us is that people do not learn from history.

i like my posts, even though i don't have many and the other system would likely favor me better since i spend most of my time in OT. However, just being active isn't contributing like posting..."Mal nommer les choses, c'est accroître le malheur du monde" - Camus (thanks Davout)
"I thought you must be dead ..." he said simply. "So did I for a while," said Ford, "and then I decided I was a lemon for a couple of weeks. A kept myself amused all that time jumping in and out of a gin and tonic."

i think the point is to discuss it, no more, no less"Mal nommer les choses, c'est accroître le malheur du monde" - Camus (thanks Davout)

I think the pc and start date are good reflections of one's contributions to the site. Admittedly, most of mine were long ago. But I know when I go to others sites it's usually a good idea to solict advice from someone who has been there awhile if you want info about the site. Removing one or the other impairs that to a degree.I'm consitently stupid- Japher
