Thread deletion?

What are the reasons that make a "bad" thread worthy of deletion instead of being simply worthy of closure?

It depends on the style of the mod. Also, some threads are moved to the Staff Forum for discussion.

I bet that some really outrageous things are said in those discussions. Or do you entertain yourselves by one mod pretending to be Asher and another to be Aggie, while the rest sit back and watch the fur fly?

Different style of mods is the main reason...

In most cases, I delete threads instead of closing them.

If I want to give a message that such behaviour is against the rule, and the thread doesn't include totally offensive material, I will post a final message and close it.

Otherwise, I just delete them... especially the spam threads. I would prefer if they just disappear... I don't like to leave closed threads as a "monument" to the spammers.
