  • What the heck is up with all the popups?

    Aaarrgghh!

I'm one of those who have a tendency to browse without logging in. I can't do this anymore as everything I do seems to give me two of those www1.contextweb ... somethingorother popups.

Change fora - two popups, open thread - two popups, change page in thread - two popups, logging in to access profile to try and get rid of popups - two popups.
They keep spawning whether I close them or not (so I do have to keep closing them).
Pretty much all of my settings are default and I don't think they've ever been changed but come today I have so many popups that it's almost unusable.

Unless this is my personal punishment for bashing England in the rugby thread I can't think of anything that might've caused this from my end ...

[Edit: Ok. Since I logged in I've only gotten 6 of the [bleep]ing things after accessing 4 different threads in three separate fora which is better than the 18 it would've given me otherwise, but still ... ]

Out of professional curiosity, which ad network was it?

We try to stay away from the ones that deliver ads in a fashion that will really piss off the surfers...

          Thanks.

            contextweb.com

apparently they dont have any mechanism to control how many pop-ups they have shown to a single user.....

Fortunately we have an admin who will control them.

Plus is awesome. I never see any ads or popups.
                      Haven't been here for ages....

                        Hooray for Plus!

Hooray for admins taking time to keep non-Plus members happy as well!
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

                          Popups
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

It's no good (from an evolutionary point of view) to have the physique of Tarzan if you have the sex drive of a philosopher. -- Michael Ruse
