That's not the only reason, as many of the birthdays were after 1969.

That's just a bit of laziness on the programmer's part, plus some assumptions wrt user behaviour.

I do like Dauphin's solution, although it may be several years too late to bring that change into effect.

You must be really annoyed that your actual birthday is swamped on the site's list by people who didn't fill theirs in.

I think Richelieu would be more annoyed at having a birthday perpetually being the day of a New Year's hangover.

This explains why Dad Richelieu and Mom Richelieu were always drunk at little Richelieu's birthday parties.

In junior high, I had a classmate whose birthday was Dec 23rd. He didn't much like it.

                        Mom never drinks, but Dad...

My Mom went into labor at around 4:AM on Jan 1st. Dad had been sleeping for roughly 1 hour at that time.

Mom took a cab to the hospital.

Wow. That's quite a story. If your mom is anything like my mom, she would love to tell anyone who would listen how difficult childbearing is -- having to take a cab by herself really wins most arguments

                          Good stuff.

I just looked at my profile in a recent post and--yep!--I was born on December 31, 1969.
However, in my control panel page, I listed my birthdate accurately as February 13, but the year is grayed out as it is pre-1969 (I assume that's the reason for the gray).

I would prefer that my bd be listed correctly, but in order to do that I have to lie about my age.
