An example, clean the amount of links in the forums, how many people use the "profile" "pm" "search" "buddy" links? What about this: clicking the username of the writer goes to a menu with these options, same if you click the avatar. At least the main thing is the message, not the user.
Also the "new thred" and "post reply" buttons, what about selecting the type of the message while editing it? Just a button saying "new message", if you do from the tree of threads, a new thread by default, if it is done from inside a thread, a new reply. Just less links, buttons , text, rates, quick jumps... etc...
