MyIE2 is a navigator that uses the IE engine, but it have tabs, mouse gestures and a lot of improvements. I use it because Opera and Firefox have compatibility problems most of the time (with pain because I love Opera)

Or to test the various styles, the main-page of the forums. There is a drop-down box you can choose different styles from. This only lasts (iirc) until you login again though. I don't logout though, so can't test.

It's actually the other way around. MSIE has compatibility problems with official web standards from e.g. W3C. Unfortunately most people put it the other way around in favour of MSIE.

It's because "optimised for MSIE" in web-speek means "non-standard-coding".
