    Hey,

I've finally gotten around to upgrading the forums on the site that I run, (http://www.youthrights.org), and I choose vBulletin, since I like everything I see here at Apolyton.

I am wondering though, what kind of special hacks y'all have added on here. What comes standard, and what do we need to install extra (if we want them), and how?

Though things will be a bit different as we will be getting 3.0.3, but any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Listing the extra hacks installed on Poly?
    That could take days.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

I guarantee every hack would not be found within the first 24 hours should someone try to list them all.

Well how about a few. How do I add the quick reply thing?

And is there a way I can install Apolyton's smilie collection?

Ok. Quick reply is figured out. Its not a hack actually in 3.0.3, its a standard option.

As for the smilie pack... ideas?

Gramphos is the guy who added many of the hacks - he'd be the one to PM about this.

A lot of the stuff on Apolyton is custom-built (which is why upgrading the forum would be such a pain).

Personally I'd like to see it upgraded but it would be a hassle for all involved, I'm sure. Maybe set up a vbulletin 3 installation in some hidden directory and work on adding the custom hacks to that while this forum keeps on functioning? I don't know.

You can see who voted for what option in polls for one.

I don't know about all the admin options in vb 2, but I am just falling in love with all the stuff I can do with our new vb3 boards. Going from ubb 5.x to vbulletin 3.0.3 is a huge upgrade, and I'm definitely liking it.

                            What a useless thread.

                            1) vB3 |= vB2. How things are coded and how it works is different. You can't compare it well.
                            2) Many parts of ACS Forums are built on code from other sources like vBulletin.org and some of that has been derivated. Not to mention Hall of Fame, Civgroups and some other stuff that has been created solemly by Gramphos and Markos.
                            3) It's really not possible to do a list about what's different.

What comes standard, and what do we need to install extra (if we want them), and how?

Look at the vBulletin Community Forum and the vBulletin 3 feature list. That's the best way to solve your issue, ie. figuring out what things have to be added or altered.

                            Ixy,

it would just be a waste of time to do that, when maintaining the actual site anyway takes a lot of time, which I assume you know. When they would be getting around to do it, they would have to update the testbed anyway, as vB is continuously developed and updated. ACS Forums is so tailor made, that it's really not worth going for an update. Especially now when Apolyton PLUS has been added too.
